Five ways to cool down in Byron Bay
When the mercury soars, you can of course laze on one of the beaches Byron is world famous for, but if you are looking for something a little more adventurous, then check out our guide to cooling down in the Bay.
Chase a Waterfall
For a water based experience with a difference, why not visit one of the many stunning waterfalls in the region? The largest is Minyon Falls - about 35 minutes from Byron via a pretty scenic rainforest drive. On the way back to town, pop into Killen Falls, or for those wanting to venture a little further, Protestor’s Falls is an easy walk through ancient World Heritage listed rainforest. The perfect shady place to spend the day!
Have a surf lesson
Byron is a world famous surfing destination, and there really is a beach suitable for any level of experience - from novice to professional. Let’s Go Surfing will get you up enjoying the small gentle waves of The Pass all year round.
Take a river cruise
Don’t miss the cooling breeze over the water on a cruise down the beautiful Brunswick River. Enjoy fantastic bird watching in this uniquely beautiful rainforest environment - perhaps spotting a kingfisher or majestic eagle that call this environment home.
Kayak with dolphins
Cool down by joining a water based adventure. Go Sea Kayak offer dolphin kayaking tours to explore Cape Byron Marine Park. Spot a passing humpback whale or turtle and watch dolphins frolick in the surf.
