The insider’s guide to Byron’s best beaches
We may be biased, but we think Byron truly has some of the best beaches Australia has to offer. Soak up some sun and surf at one or all of these local favourites.
Clarke's Beach
Starting with a perennial family favourite, Clarke's is the quintessential Byron town beach. Long stretches of soft white sand, crystal clean family friendly waves and more than the occasional dolphin visitor. A tidal lagoon is perfect for the little ones to splash around in. A short stroll from your accommodation and local cafes makes beach this a perfect choice for family fun.
The Pass
Arguably Byron's most famous beach, The Pass is an enticing mix of crystal clear waves and soft white sand, just steps from your accommodation. Enjoy a picnic at the grassy picnic area, or take a stroll along the adjacent bush trails to the lookout. Popular with everyone from experienced surfers to families, The Pass should be high on your "must do" list when visiting Byron.
Wategos Beach
The playground of Byron's rich and famous, Wategos Beach is a sheltered bay just a few minutes out of town. Spot a few famous faces dining at beachfront Rae's, surf the famous waves or enjoy a beachfront BBQ on Australia's most easterly beach.
Belongil Beach
A more secluded option just to the north of Byron town centre, Belongil offers 2.5km of white sand, just perfect for your morning stroll into town. Make some time to settle in under the palms with a drink or two at beachfront favourite Treehouse restaurant during your visit.
Torakina Beach
Local secret Torakina is a picture perfect paradise, tucked away on the pretty seaside village of Brunswick Heads, just a short drive north of Byron Bay. Perfect for families with young children, you can easily while away the day in this laid back village, or with so much to see and do, why not extend your stay for a few days
