Byron Bay’s best markets
Fabulous shopping is a well known drawcard for visitors to Byron Bay, and some of the best can be found at the many regular regional markets. Showcasing the best of the region’s creative spirit, there is a market on in a different location every weekend in the area. Here are five of our favourites.
Byron Community Market
Held in the centre of town on the first Sunday of each month, the Community market is an eclectic collection of stalls reflective of Byron Bay’s creative community. Discover wares from local artisans including jewellery, ceramics, clothing and more. Sample fantastic locally grown food, coffee and enjoy live music.
Bangalow Market
On the fourth Sunday of each month, the nearby Bangalow showgrounds fill with over 300 stalls, showcasing a huge variety of artisan products such as ceramics and woodwork, fresh produce and baked goods, and delicious food and coffee, clothing and jewellery. Sit beneath the canopy of huge trees and enjoy live entertainment performed by local talent.
Byron Beachside Market
Held four times a year in early January, Easter, July and late September, the Beachside Market is a ‘make it, bake it, sew it and grow it’ market held on the Byron Bay foreshore east of the Surf Club.
The Channon Market
Take a road trip on the 2nd Sunday of the month out to the colourful region of The Channon to experience a market with true community spirit. Wth around 250 stalls showcasing the “Make it, Bake it, Grow it” ethos, it is worth making a day of. Grab some picnic fare and explore nearby Protestor’s Falls while you are in the region.
Mullumbimby Farmer’s Market
Whilst strictly a food based market, no visit to the Byron region is complete without a trip to the weekly Friday farmer’s market in nearby Mullumbimby. Discover over 50 stalls showcasing the best regional, seasonal fresh produce, as well as artisan wood fired bread, amazing local honey, sustainable meats and seafood, dairy and more. Gather to enjoy great coffee, breakfast and musical talent with the colourful local community.
